FINANCIAL TV GAME SHOW, DOLLAR & SENSE ( ), CHANNEL U, SPECIAL EPISODES ON 24 SEPTEMBER 2006 AND 1 OCTOBER 2006

 

Watch your favourite celebrities in the final two special episodes of the financial TV Game Show, Dollar & Sense (神机妙算) on Channel U on Sundays, 24 September 2006 and 1 October 2006 (8pm - 9pm, with a repeat telecast at 12 am).

Co-sponsored by MoneySENSE, the TV Game Show has seen above average ratings and received positive feedback. As a special finale, the last two episodes will be telecast on Sunday evenings.

Catch Superstars Dawn Yip, Kelly Poon, Fang Zhong Hua, Weilian who will be assisted by Jason, pitch their money management and investment skills against each other in the special episode on Sunday, 24 September 2006.

The final episode on Sunday, 1 October 2006 will feature celebrity couples such as Chen Li Ping and Rayson; Pan Lingling and Shinan; Quan Yifeng and Peter; Lina Huang Su Fang and Mike.

31 March 2006 - Inaugural MoneySENSE Roadshow & Other New Initiatives

Come to the MoneySENSE 2006 Roadshow (PDF, 351KB) at HDB Hub (31 Mar - 2 Apr 2006). Learn about money matters through fun and games. In conjunction with the Roadshow, MoneySENSE introduced several new initiatives.

1) "MoneySENSE Ambassadors" - A special programme for Secondary School students

Calling all Secondary School students who have previously participated in MoneySENSE activities in schools.   Come join the "MoneySENSE Ambassadors" Programme.  This programme encourages you to share what you learnt about money management with fellow students and encourage them to draw up their own pocket money budgets and send them to MoneySENSE.  The more students you successfully encourage, the more prizes you will win.  

If you're a Secondary School student, but have not participated in a school-organised MoneySENSE activity before and do not have a "MoneySENSE Ambassador", you can still participate in this programme by drawing up your own MoneySENSE Pocket Money Budget.  Submit your budget by 31 May 2006 and stand a chance to win a 512MB iPOD.

2) Worksheets on "Borrowing Money", "Buying a Home and Taking a Home Loan", and "Managing Your Retirement Funds"

MoneySENSE, CPF Board, Association of Banks in Singapore (ABS), Association of Financial Advisers (Singapore) (AFA), Financial Planning Association of Singapore (FPAS), and the Insurance & Financial Practitioners Association of Singapore (IFPAS) jointly present three guides offering consumers practical tips on what to look out for when borrowing money, taking a loan to buy a home, and managing one's retirement funds.  The three guides also include worksheets to help consumers assess their financial situation.

MoneySENSE Worksheet on "Borrowing Money" (PDF, 459KB)

This guide highlights key issues you should consider before borrowing and provides a worksheet to help you assess your credit situation. 

MoneySENSE Worksheet on "Buying a Home and Taking a Home Loan" (PDF, 438KB)

This guide takes you through areas that you should consider when buying a home and taking a home loan, and includes a worksheet to help you assess affordability before buying a home.

MoneySENSE Worksheet on "Managing Your Retirement Funds" (PDF, 345KB)

This guide takes you through key issues you need to consider in managing your retirement funds, and provides worksheets that you can use to calculate the monthly amount you can spend without wiping your retirement funds prematurely.

3) MoneySENSE "Making Sense of Common Financial Documents" Guide

MoneySENSE, CPF Board, Association of Banks in Singapore (ABS), Investment Management Association of Singapore (IMAS), Life Insurance Association, Singapore (LIA) and the Singapore Exchange (SGX) jointly present the MoneySENSE "Making Sense of Common Financial Documents" Guide (PDF, 3.27MB). The Guide features financial documents which consumers commonly encounter but often do not find time to read and understand. Attached with each financial document are practical tips on how you can better manage your cash flow, manage your credit, provide for your retirement, protect against the unexpected and invest your wealth.

4) Excel worksheets to help you create your budget, assess your net worth and review your debt load

MoneySENSE presents Budget, Net Worth and Debt worksheets to help you assess your financial position and manage your money.   Click on the worksheets below and save the excel worksheets in your hard drive. Using the worksheet is easy. Just key in your answers on the white boxes in the worksheet and scroll down to view your results. The worksheets show only one set of results at any point in time.  Do save your worksheets and update them regularly.  Have fun using the worksheets!

Create My Budget Worksheet (XLS, 435KB)

This worksheet enables you to list your expenses, and compare your actual expenses with your targeted expenses.  It helps you determine if you are overspending and living beyond your means. Keeping a budget can go a long way in growing your savings.

Net Worth Worksheet (XLS, 432KB)

Net worth is the difference in value between your assets and liabilities.  Determining your net worth helps you to assess if you are taking on too much or unnecessary liabilities.

Debt Review Worksheet (XLS, 430KB)

This worksheet enables you to compute your monthly long term debt payment and assess if you are taking on too much debt.  There are also tips on how to manage debt wisely.
