13 September 2005 - "Understanding Investment-Linked Life Insurance Policies" Seminar organised by the Life Insurance Association, Singapore and the Consumers Association of Singapore
The Life Insurance Association, Singapore (LIA) and the Consumers Association of Singapore (CASE) are jointly organising a public seminar on investment-linked policies (ILPs) under the MoneySENSE national financial education programme, titled 'Understanding Investment-Linked Life Insurance Policies'. The seminar will be held on Saturday, 24 September 2005 at the Theatre at Suntec City Convention Centre.
The seminar aims to cover topics such as:
(i) the basics of the ILP structure;
(ii) how products within this structure operate;
(iii) how ILPs can offer a combination of insurance and investment; and
(iii) questions to ask financial adviser representatives when buying insurance products.

15 August 2005 - "Understanding Motor Insurance" Seminar organised by the General Insurance Association of Singapore and the Consumers Association of Singapore
The General Insurance Association of Singapore (GIA) and the Consumers Association of Singapore (CASE) are jointly organising a public seminar on motor insurance under the MoneySENSE national financial education programme titled 'Understanding Motor Insurance'. The seminar will be held on Saturday, 20 August 2005. This is the first time GIA and CASE are working together to organise a seminar on motor insurance.
The seminar aims to cover topics such as:
(i) the types of motor insurance policies available;
(ii) the questions motorists need to ask when purchasing motor insurance;
(iii) how motor premiums are set; and
(iii) using the Singapore Accident Statement.

30 July 2005 - First National Financial Literacy Survey reveals encouraging findings about Singaporeans' approach to money matters
Mr. Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Minister for Education and Deputy Chairman of the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), today announced findings of the first National Financial Literacy survey at the Taman Jurong Community Club Official Opening and Singapore's 40th National Day Celebration. Commissioned by the MoneySENSE national financial education programme, the survey revealed encouraging findings about Singaporeans' approach to money matters as well as areas for improvement.

24 July 2005 - Speech by Mr Raymond Lim, Minister, Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister for Finance and Foreign Affairs, at the Third Berita Harian Financial Planning Conference, Raffles City Convention Centre, 24 July 2005
In his speech, Mr Raymond Lim highlighted a few reasons why Singaporeans should plan early for their retirement and urged Singaporeans to take proactive action to plan adequately and early enough for their retirement. Mr Lim shared that the MoneySENSE national financial education programme will work on more tailored programmes for different target audiences. He hoped more Singaporeans will take advantage of these programmes and take proactive steps on their financial planning.

15 June 2005 - "Understanding Health Insurance" Seminar organized by Life Insurance Association, Singapore and the General Insurance Association of Singapore. (PDF, 645KB)
Due to the overwhelming response received for the inaugural seminar, LIA and GIA will be jointly organizing the second free public seminar on Saturday, 25 June 2005, 2.30pm at the Singapore Expo. The seminar will cover issues such as financing healthcare using Medisave and Private Health Insurance, and offer practical tips on what you should look out for when buying health insurance products.

14 May 2005 - MoneySENSE "Talking Dollar and Sense" Workshop Graduation Ceremony organised by the North East CDC
North East CDC launched the "Talking Dollar and Sense" Workshop in June 2004 to help educate its residents on how to better manage their finance. At the graduation ceremony for the first batch of participants under the "Talking Dollar and Sense" Workshop, Dr Ong Seh Hong, MP for Aljunied GRC, said 700 residents who have participated in the workshop have not only gained financial budget skills, but have also helped themselves out of financial difficulties.

The Life Insurance Association, Singapore (LIA) and the General Insurance Association of Singapore (GIA) are jointly organising a public seminar on health insurance under the MoneySENSE national financial education programme titled 'Understanding Health Insurance'. The seminar will be held on Saturday, 7 May 2005. This is the first time LIA and GIA are working together to organise a seminar on health insurance.
The seminar aims to educate participants on the basics of health insurance:
(i) Overview of healthcare environment in Singapore;
(ii) Financing healthcare using Medisave and cash; and
(iii) What to look out for when buying health insurance.

25 April 2005 - First Malay financial planning talk - "MoneySENSE and You: Are You Making Effective Financial Decisions?" (PDF. 21.8KB)
MoneySENSE will be launching the first Malay financial planning talk on Saturday, 30 April 2005 at the Muhajirin Mosque. Mr Heng Chee How, Mayor of Central Singapore District and MP for Jalan Besar GRC will be officiating the launch. The talk aims to create greater awareness among the Malay community of the importance of financial planning. Participants will be taught simple steps to make effective financial decisions and receive practical tips on what to look out for when dealing with financial advisers.

18 March 2005 - National Financial Literacy Survey (PDF, 11.1KB)
The Financial Education Steering Commitee, which oversees the MoneySENSE national financial education programme, will be conducting a national financial literacy survey from 19 March to 30 April 2005. The purpose of this survey is to benchmark the current level of financial literacy among Singaporeans so as to better develop and deliver financial education programmes to meet the needs of different segments of the population.
