5 November 2004 - The General Insurance Association of Singapore releases two motor insurance consumer guides under the MoneySENSE initiative (PDF, 52.6KB)

This Guide explains the different types of motor insurance products that are available to consumers; and gives practical tips on what a consumer should look out for when buying a motor insurance policy.

"What To Do After A Motor Accident" (PDF, 147KB)
This Guide provides practical tips on what a consumer should do after a motor accident and how to lodge a motor insurance claim.

 

26 October 2004 - MAS issues Guidelines on Switching of Designated Investment Products and a consumer alert "Switching of Investment Products (Life Insurance Policies and Unit Trusts) - Understanding Your Rights & Responsibilities"

Consumer Alert: "Switching of Investment Products (Life Insurance Policies and Unit Trusts) - Understanding Your Rights & Responsibilities"

The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) today issued Guidelines on Switching of Designated Investment Products (PDF, 30.6KB) ("Guidelines"). The Guidelines aim to provide guidance to financial advisers on the controls, processes and procedures MAS expects them to put in place to monitor and deter undesirable switching activities. In conjunction with the release of the Guidelines, MAS has also published a consumer alert explaining what switching is and what consumers can do to protect their interests.

Consumer guide: "Making Sense of Structured Deposits"

The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) today issued a package of measures to raise market conduct standards in the sales and advisory process for structured deposits. The package includes a set of Guidelines on Structured Deposits (PDF, 41.3KB) under the Financial Adviser Act, a set of Guidelines on the definition of a "Deposit" under the Banking Act and a consumer guide, "Making Sense of Structured Deposits".  The consumer guide highlights the features of structured deposits, the risks involved and what consumers should look out for when investing in such products.

The Life Insurance Association, Singapore (LIA) and the General Insurance Association of Singapore (GIA) have launched a new consumer guide, "Your Guide To Health Insurance". An initiative of the MoneySENSE national financial education programme, the Guide provides a general introduction to the concept of health insurance; explains the different types of health insurance products that are available to consumers; and gives practical tips on what a consumer should look out for when buying a health insurance product.
